Hi, I’m Pickles! I’m 14 years old, and while my past is a mystery, my future is still wide open.

I’m a newcomer compared to many of my rescue friends here, but I’m a gentle soul inside and out. I’ve been through a lot in my life, yet the kindness I show to both humans and other animals, including cats, amazes the staff here. I’ve also been told that I look just like a long-term dog named Wayne, who lived here before me. Everyone loved him so much, and now I’ve taken his place.

I often help more nervous dogs feel braver on tours or in the play areas because I show them there is nothing to be afraid of. I guess you could say I have a little job here, just like Wayne did.

Even though I’m a senior, I still have so much love to give. I dream of finding a home where I can spend my golden years surrounded by kindness. A place where I can relax, be loved, and maybe even help someone else feel braver, just like I do here. Could you be the one to give me that chance?

I do have an old hip injury and arthritis, so I can’t go on long walks or climb lots of stairs. I do need regular short walks to stay healthy.

I was also attacked by other street dogs in my past, so I need a safe and calm environment for my golden years.

I was rescued from the streets on the mainland. When the team found me, I had a large maggot wound in my hind area. After I healed, the team at LAW decided that I was too old to return to street life, and I have been living safely here ever since.
